Indie/Pop
Tessa and The Typecast are 5 piece band originally from Ballarat, now based in Melbourne. Their songs are likened to a blend of Regina Spektor, Sarah Blasko, Florence and the Machine, Kate Miller-Heidke (who they supported) and topped off with a splash of Megan Washington, tough all these similarities have been throw upon them there sound is still unique and holds its own amongst all those previously mentioned.
First off I’m one of those people that loves strings and the cello work from Nat is just superb, that is why this song gets the Song of The Day spot. Secondly Tessa’s voice is one of great control and clarity with a jazz and contemporary feel that portrays heavily through the song. By the time the beat kicks in you are already hooked from the magic trio of Piano, cello and the amazing voices that complement each other so well and make the chorus truly something special that helps the song build towards the grand instrumental with some great guitar and drum work before falling off at the end to the sound of the piano. This is a great musical piece of work that everyone should give a listen.
No clip today but you can listen “Something I Saw” via the link below, along with the fantastic first single from Tessa and The Typecast – Painter
