This song has everything I love about the panics taken to the next level. If the rest of the album is of the same quality as this first song then this will be one of the biggest records of the year. “Don’t fight it”  The first single from “Cruel Guards” entered the top 10 of  Triple J’s Hottest 100 for that year and I can see “Majesty” doing similar things this year. This track is Grand, it is modest yet astounding, it does everything just right. It Picks you up in the chorus and sets you back down gently for the verses. The drums, similar to Timpani (the large kettel drums used in orchestras) are a great addition, they add depth to the song and help give it that illustrious and imposing character.

It was definitely worth the wait for this one, “Majesty” is truly Majestic.

Please let everyone else know what you think of  “Majesty” by The Panics

Song Of The Day – The Little Stevies “The Day We Went Away”

Pop/Indie

The Little Stevies are a wonderful traveling storybook from Melbourne that is gaining more and more readers with every show they perform. Their second Album “Attention shoppers” recorded in LA with Ethan Allan as Producer, brings a harder edge to their songs with more of a pop influence and slick strong rhythms. This tune “The Day We Went Away” has all of that and shows us some of the laid back folk that they are best know for as well. Though not as catchy as their previous song “Feel It” this offering still provides some great musical listening with beautiful 3 part harmonies singing honest, heart felt lyrics. I want to listen to this song as I drive along the coast road with a few of my best friends with no real destination in mind on a sunny, windy day. It is impossible to be unhappy whilst listening to the Little Stevies!!

On the up and up, The little stevies will go far with already two American tours under their belt, the international chapter to their story has begun. On their last tour abroad they performed at New York’s CMJ and Ottawa’s OCFF music conferences stealing the show, creating massive industry buzz and making heaps of friends and fans.

Song of The Day – Inland Sea “Traitor”

Indie/Folk/Pop

Hailing from Brisbane, this title track from their Debut EP is full of warmth and colour.  This is an exceptional song that will bring out the smiles on the saddest people by the end.  5 of the 10 members provide their voice for the unique and enchanting harmonies that will flow and swirl around your head for the rest of the day. You will feel the gentle nod of your head begin then the foot will start tapping, just let the melody wash over you take you on the journey that is Inland Sea

First Ever Song of The Day – Blud “Sarah Is For Lovers”

Blud – Sarah Is For Lovers

Power-Pop/rock/electronic

Blud are a Perth Band that have played at Parklife 2010, Norfolk Lanes Youth Festival 2010 (their first 2 gigs ever!!) and Good Vibrations 2011. Not much is known what the rest of 2011 has in stall for them, you can check out their myspace page but that hasn’t been updated since January. Though I’m sure they are making waves over in WA.

This track is pumped up with so much bass it could quite possibly break your legs. The intro draws you into the tune perfectly and then the rest literally blows you away. The ultimate destructive house party anthem. Draws from artists like presets and bloody-beetroots. It’s pure aggression in a song that is also a bucket full of fun!
